Day 1
A bottle of cider. The first time that my parents have actually bought me alcohol to drink on Hogmany. It was a quiet night in the Watson household, the last night of 2010, with a homely dinner, a few board games and Jool's Hootenany on the box. This time last year, I would have been amazed at the fact that my parents would sit back and let me drink freely in the house, but 2010 was such a whirlwind that I don't think anything is as I expected it would be.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not being maudlin. I'm simply saying that that naive Katie that woke up on the 1st of January 2010 had absolutely no idea how utterly brilliant her life would be come winter. In the past 12 months I have gone from pretty much a social recluse with a poor dress sense, to someone who has been described as a "character" in the class, who they call "the arty one". The people in my life now literally could not be any better. Old friends can always be counted on for merry banter, whereas I feel like I've known some of my new friends for most of my life. The thought that I could have chosen somewhere else to go to University, and met a completely different group of people terrifies me, because Aberdeen hasn't half produced the goods for what I'm hoping will be some of the best years of my life.

2011. You've got a lot a lot to live up to.
