Day 365 - The Final Day

And it's hogmany! After 2 shopping trips, to buy a dress and a cardigan as pictured above, and sending Jennifer off home with the rents, I got picked up by Jonny who was decked out in his finest bakery attire and taken to Portlethen, where I was fed a wonderful meal of shepherds pie and apple crumble! Then, equipped with a bottle of wine (uh ohhhh) we went to Darrens house to commence celebrations, eventually getting a taxi in to town and to Characters, where we saw in the bells through drunken eyes and accompanied by the blasting horns of the boats in the harbour. It was an affa good night! Not so much the karaoke shown in this photo, but y'know, I'm pretty sure there was talk of a record deal? Maybe? Maybe not...

So, there you go folks. 365 days of my life, my entire 2011. Out of 10, how would I rate this year? I know everyone's going to go for the cliche of it being "the best year yet", and I don't want you to think I'm just being over enthusiastic, but I'd be willing to say it's been about a 9. Instead of drawling on and on and boring you senseless (lets face it, if you need something to send you to sleep there's 364 other posts tailor made for that exact purpose!), I shall instead succinctly list the things that have made 2011 so good:

- Getting a job. I may moan a lot about the ol' hut, but it's actually pretty good banter and I've met some ace people there.
- Passing first year. And passing it pretty well, if I say so myself.
- Turning 18. I sound like an alcoholic, but I ruddy love a night in the pub.
- Not turning back into a total heifer. This is my eternal fear.
- All the millions of times I got to legitimately dress up. Mime, architect, robber, Where's Wally, Panda, Panda again, and geek x2, a night is always better if you look intentionally stupid.
- Discovering Exo. I love that place.
- Fringe times with my Dad.
- Hiking with my dad.
- The flat parties at Linksfield (especially my 18th...) and the not so frequent get togethers at Rosemount.
- Successfully moving flat and not ballsing it all up.
- Getting my braces. Hello straight teeth for the first time in my life.
- Getting in to running, to the extent that I can now go for a wee 5k and not come back feeling like I won't move for a few years.
- Saw Frank Turner twice, Noah and the Whale twice, and Ben Howard. Not too shabby.
- Architect's study tour to London. Such good banter, so many jokes and stories, bring on Berlin!
- A new guitar, and with it an improved guitar playing ability. But that's not really saying much, I'm still super average.

Without a doubt though, the best thing about this year, hands down, is a certain Mr Elsmlie. He's kinda cool I guess, and it's been a cracking 7 months. I've had some ace nights (and days) with him, and some brilliant fun along the way. I don't really know what to say, I'm just awfully glad I met him.

As you contemplate how you're going to fill the void in your life which has been left by the conclusion of this blog, I'll leave you with a little treat: My favorite picture of the year. Thanks for reading, hope 2012 is good to you!

Over and out

Day 364

After a very poor nights sleep on the air bed, I awoke feeling worse for wear and not really up for anything. Order of the day was the garden centre for a coffee, then into Aberdeen to buy cleaning stuff and other general provisions for my flat. After sitting and trying to heat up the livingroom, we headed to pizza express for dinner, where Jonny joined us. And then Jennifer stayed at my flat at night, and we got all retro and played on the PS2.

363/365

Day 363

Back to Aberdeen (well, Inverurie) before Hogmany today. Popped in past the Aberdeen Watsons (got some more vouchers and a hefty amount of chocolate) then went over to the Grandparents, where we bumped into the Gibson and I managed to get myself a nice bottle of wine! Other than that I basically just sat about the house, slouching, doing a teeny bit of revision and very little else. Oh, and I got to sleep on the airbed which was a) uncomfortable and b) difficult, it's like sleeping on a balloon. Infact, it was so bad that I actually took myself to sleep on the sofa instead. No matter, back to Rosemount tomorrow for the night, hello comfy beds!

362/365

Day 362

Played my guitar for the majority of the day today (yes, I'm definitely getting close to open mic night standards... kidding!) and then popped along to the pub in Aberdour at night to catch up with Alex over a quiet drink. And, for a change, it WAS a quiet drink. I can hear you judging me, get off your high horse.

361/365

Day 361

Hit the sales properly today. The alarm was set for 7am, and we left for Edinburgh at 9. There wasn't a great deal to be said for what was available in the shops, but I managed to power through and buy a pair of shorts, a jumper and a watch. We walked the length of Princes Street twice and Jennifer spent a small fortune in Urban Outfitters. We were home for lunch, and then me and Dad went for our annual walk across the bridge. It rained on the way back, but it was still a good way to start eating into the billions of extra calories consumed over the past few days. Oh, and at night I went on a run and I went too soon after dinner and I didn't feel particularly good afterwards

360/365

Day 360

Jennifer's face! boxing day today, which is always terribly anti-climatic. We popped to Dunfermline for some initial sale shopping (new heels and bedclothes) and then I cracked open the books and started revising. Oh, and I snuck a little shot on the ole rowing machine (it's not old, it's actually new and it had real life 100% WATER in it) and I was surprised that I didn't so myself an injury.

359/365

Day 359
(Until earlier today, I was working on a faulty blog. I'd missed out 306 and 319, not as pictures but as numbers if you get me, so I as two days ahead... It's fixed now though! Only took me and hour or so...)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Yes, despite a complete lack of snow and temperatures warmer than October, it's Christmas time, and according to this photo in the Watson household that means wearing men's jumpers from Primark. Obviously. Jennifer dearest got me this and a make up bag, and my parents got me all sorts, including Portfolio Sleeves (ayyyy!), owl shaped bookends and lots of Berlin guides for the trip in March. Jonny showed a creative side (shock horror!) with a wonderful book of guitar music that he hand picked and re-wrote, and tickets to see the stunning Laura Marling. All in all a rather ace haul.

As is expected, the entirety of the day was spent eating, with the occasional break to put on different clothes, watch a film or read. All awfully strenuous activites, as you can tell. Luckily (yes, luckily), I didn't accumulate too much chocolate, and so the threat to my waistline that is Christmas should pass unnoticed!
